Reiki (pronounced Ray Key) is a Japanese word consisting of two characters’ “Rei” and “Ki” representing Universal Life Force, the energy around us and within us. Reiki is a Japanese technique used for helping to reduce stress and aid relaxation that also promotes healing, balance and a sense of wholeness and life purpose. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If our “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are far more capable of being happy and healthy. This form of healing is a holistic, creative energy that helps prevent imbalance in assisting our body’s own natural healing powers, therefore creating and maintaining a state of wellbeing. It really has changed my life for the better and is now part of my everyday life.
Today, Reiki has been expanded and diversified under various names, I use and teach the original three level format known today as Usui Shiki Ryoho.
Reiki re-establishes a normal flow of energy (Ki) within the body to heal all levels – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual (Note: life-force energy is also known as Chi/Qi [China], Prana [India] or Huna [Hawaii], etc.)
Our physical body is sensitive to the energy of thoughts and emotions. When we experience negative feelings or thoughts about ourselves, develop negative thought patterns and beliefs, or experience a physical or emotional shock, this affects our energy field, creating emotional and physiological blockages that eventually disrupt our health.

Reiki frees and aligns your body’s energy system, which in turn releases pain on all levels – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
Reiki aids the body in releasing stress and tension by creating deep relaxation and it restores energy balance and vitality by relieving the physical and emotional effects of unreleased stress.
It will gently and effectively open your blocked meridians (energy pathways) and chakras (energy centres) and clears the energy bodies, leaving you feeling relaxed and at peace.
For Reiki to be more effective, you should be open minded and willing to take responsibility to alter your negative life patterns or issues to create their own healing.
Reiki is simple and provides measurable results – in essence, it is power, light and love
Reiki can only be used for the higher good.
A treatment can feel like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you.
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
You will be lying down on a couch or sitting comfortably in a chair. There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki energy passes through all materials, even plaster casts!
I will place my hands gently on or over your body and Reiki can also be given over a distance.
You may experience a flow of energy such as feelings of mild tingling, warmth, coolness, other sensations, some experience nothing at all.
The length of sessions can vary from 45 mins to 90mins, I will spend the amount of time I am guided to, therefore I will not be restricted by time.
Even one single Reiki session can really make a difference; however, a course of regular treatments may be more effective. These may be weekly, fortnightly, monthly, or less depending on your needs. A treatment plan will be discussed with you and this can be regularly reviewed as you progress and subject to your preferences.
Please note: Reiki is being used in various settings including private practices, complementary therapy centres, GP surgeries, hospitals, hospices, cancer support groups, post-operative recovery, drug rehabilitation and in the care of the elderly. Reiki does not take the place of conventional medicine. Always consult a GP for an acute or infectious condition, and problems of urgent concern.
